MANY SOURCES. ONE CLEAR DECISION.

Make overlapping supplier stock make sense.

Two wholesalers sell the same part. Their codes, quantities and shipping options differ. Anyweb builds a source-aware inventory model so your Shopify availability reflects the suppliers you can actually use.

Fictional suppliers. This policy publishes 10 units; other businesses may choose different validated aggregation rules.

Try a stock buffer

Sample quantity to publish15

Supplier quantity minus the safety buffer, never below zero.

Local simulation only. No supplier or Shopify connection. A buffer reduces exposure; it cannot guarantee stock or prevent every oversell.
01

Build a cross-reference with evidence

Map each supplier code to a canonical sellable item using manufacturer identifiers, units and verified product attributes. Keep replacements and alternate parts separate unless their equivalence is established. A shared product title is not sufficient proof of an exact match.

  • Review pack quantities and regional variants
  • Retain the mapping’s source and approval
02

Choose a stock policy per product

You might publish only the preferred supplier’s quantity, allow an approved backup or combine independent eligible pools. Those are different policies with different fulfillment implications. We document which rule applies before a quantity reaches Shopify.

  • Apply a separate buffer to each source
  • Exclude stale or restricted supply
03

Evaluate backup sources before relying on them

A backup supplier may add shipping charges, require a minimum order or miss the customer’s destination. Use known landed-cost and service inputs where available. If costs or stock are uncertain, the backup should remain a review option rather than silently expanding availability.

  • Record why a supplier was selected
  • Avoid assuming the cheapest source is eligible
04

Keep inventory decisions aligned with routing

The supplier that justified a stock promise should remain visible when the order is placed. Recheck availability as the supported source permits and handle rejections through an exception process. Inventory publication and purchase acceptance are separate stages.

  • Track discontinued mappings explicitly
  • Reconcile supplier and store records regularly

BEFORE YOU START

The useful questions.

What is possible depends on your data, existing systems and the way your business works.

Can suppliers use different item codes?

Yes. Keep a reviewed cross-reference between each supplier record and the exact Shopify variant, including unit or pack differences.

Can each supplier have a different buffer?

Yes. Buffers can reflect source reliability and update cadence, provided the resulting availability rule is clear.

Should stock always be added together?

No. Shared warehouses, overlapping allocations and restricted sources can make addition misleading. Combine only independently usable supply.

How does the selected supplier receive the order?

That requires a connected order-routing process and the supplier’s approved ordering channel. Inventory synchronization alone does not place purchases.
